Student Grant Application for Research, Innovation, and Creative Projects:

The Research Office Student Grant Program provides funding to support general expenses associated with student research, innovation, and creative activities. Grant applications will be accepted around October and January of each year. Notification of open opportunities will be posted here, and announced through UT Announce notification.

Awards are limited to $250 maximum for a single applicant, or $500 per project if 2 or more students are co-applying for the grant. The goal of this program is to support students with funding to advance their independent projects, and allow them to contribute to research activities on campus and to the general knowledge in their academic discipline. Funding must be used to directly impact the proposed project, with the expectation that students will make significant progress on the project, and grow as a professional through an educational and meaningful experience. Eligible expenses include direct costs related to carrying out the proposed project, such as materials, supplies, facilities and instrument costs, accompanists, and participation/survey fees. Funding from this grant cannot be used to cover expenses such as travel costs; patent fees or associated costs of writing and filing for patents, copyrights, or trademarks; any type of salary, wage, stipend, or benefit for UT Tech students or employees; or to cover tuition or student fees. This Grant program MAY NOT be used for travel. Please apply for a Travel Grant if you are requesting funds for travel of any type.

Student Travel Grant Application for Research, Innovation, and Creative Projects:

2024-2025 Travel Grant Updates TBA.

The Research Office Travel Grant Program provides funding opportunities to support travel expenses associated with student research, innovation, and creative activities.

Awards are limited to $500 maximum for single applicant, or $1000 per project if 2 or more students are co-applying for this travel grant. The goal of this program is to support student travel activities for students present and collaborate on independent projects, or to access off-campus (non-local) sites to pursue their research and creative interests. Funding must be used to directly impact the proposed project, with the expectation that students will make significant progress on the project or engage in academic conferences in their related discipline.

Eligible expenses for projects include direct costs related to carrying out the proposed project such as attending academic conferences (including registration fees, travel, lodging, and associated per diem expenses) to present their work to a wider audience; to interact with collaborators on their research, innovative, or creative project; or to access off-site locations to collect data or other information from necessary locations. Funding from this grant will not be used to support materials and supplies; patent fees or associated costs of writing and filing for patents, copyrights, or trademarks; any type of salary, wage, stipend, or benefit for UT students or employees; or to cover tuition or student fees.
